Ronald Oram was born in Englewood, a city of approximately 27,000 residents, located in Northern New Jersey, less than 7 miles from New York City.  Ron displayed an aptitude for art at an early age and was usually the class artist until he entered High School when athletics replaced art as the focus of his extra curricular activities.  He attended Eastern New Mexico University on a Basketball scholarship  and renewed his interest in art while taking elective courses in art history, sketching, and oil painting.  After graduating, Ron relocated to Southern California where he was employed in the criminal justice arena as a high risk offender probation officer and as an adult investigator, retiring in 2009 after 30 years of service. Although during his working years there was not much time for his artistic expressioin, he continued to paint sporadically.  Family vacations throughout the continental United States, Mexico, Costa Rica, Hawaii, and the Bahamas later inspired many of his paintings.  His topics are vast. Equally adept at creating landscapes, cityscapes, crowded urban street scenes, and paintings depicting and paying tribute to musical artistry.

"Much of my art is personal, scenes imprinted on my minds eye from growing up on the East Coast and more recent images from living in Los Angeles and various travel destinations.  I've been influenced by many artists but the most important influence has always been the magnificence of this incredible planet. Most of my work has an element of abstractionism, filled with colors. Everywhere I look I see wonderful natural art, putting my personal spin on it is my obsession."

Ron and wife, Ruth, currently reside in Whittier, CA.
